What to expect in Spanish 1 and 2
Spanish 1 - This year focuses on basic conversation and vocabulary expansion. Students learn how to ask and respond to a variety of basic questions. Topics covered include likes and dislikes, descriptions using adjectives, family, body, clothing, weather, bedroom, classroom, school, prepositional phrases, city locations/giving directions and food/ordering in a restaurant. Present tense verb conjugation is covered.
Spanish 2 - This year focuses on grammar. Reflexive Verbs are introduced. Also, the following verb tenses are reviewed and covered: present tense, stem-changing and irregular verbs, present progressive tense, preterit past tense, imperfect past tense, simple future tense, and future tense. Thematic units include food and cooking, daily routine, hotel and travel, and health and medicine.
About Me:
I have been happily teaching Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 at Yosemite High School since 2001. I love teaching and traveling with my students. Since 2005, I have traveled with students to Spain and France, Costa Rica and Peru.
