Applications are now open for our 2026/27 International Student Buddy Scheme! As a Buddy, you will serve as a point of contact for one or more new international students during the Autumn term. You will help them transition to university and the UK by sharing your experiences and offering advice and guidance by email, over Zoom, or in person. This can range from advising them on support services available, the best places to eat on campus, questions about their lecture timetable, or what they can do and see in York!
This is a great way to meet new friends from different countries and cultures, and we encourage you to bring your students along to our many exciting events.
This is a voluntary opportunity, open to all current students who will be continuing their studies in the 2026 Autumn semester.
Now open to PG students!
Application Deadline | 4th May 2026
The York Research Exchange is an informal, peer-led network for postgraduate researchers to connect, share insights, and support one another across disciplines. Meeting twice monthly, each session focuses on a practical theme to help researchers develop skills, reflect on their practice, and navigate postgraduate research life at the University of York.
Sessions are relaxed and discussion-focused, providing a supportive, low-pressure space for the exchange of ideas, interdisciplinary conversations, and community-building. Whether you come to contribute or listen, join us for thoughtful discussion, coffee and cake, and the chance to build your postgraduate researcher network.
Date | Bi-weekly starting 11th Feb
Time | 5pm
Location | Wentworth Graduate Common Room, B/R/016
