The WP3 Trop-ClOC deployment to investigate chlorine chemistry in the remote marine environment took place as part of the wider collaborative BLEACH project on the island of Bermuda in the summer of 2022 and winter of 2023. Although the dominant source of chlorine to the atmopshere is sea salt, many of the mechanisms that enable its release as reactive inorganic compounds into the gas phase are driven by anthropogenic emissions. Understanding the scale and drivers of chlorine chemistry in remote marine locations is central to our understanding of chlorine's global role, particulary in terms of impacts on things like methane lifetime.
