We know how important it can be to have a safe space to go to study, chat, or take a minute in a busy day of labs and lectures, so we've tried to list the main places around campus that you may find useful!
We know that there is currently no clear 'PET Common Room' and creating this space is one of our long-term goals with the PET reps. In the meantime, this page lists the places in and around PET, as well as a few selected places around the uni.
As of Spring 2025, the opening hours of the Exhibition Centre are weekdays during term time 8-10pm, but please note these times may not be accurate as opening hours can change frequently. The teaching rooms and offices are open to students 9am-5pm.
This is hidden opposite the lifts on the first floor, and we recommend it as a place to escape the stress of labs! Located just below, it provides a nice space to step outside for a moment and take a breath.
This space has plug sockets and sofas available.
It has a studious buzz noise level and is open to all PET students.
This is tucked away on the first-floor corridor, and we recommend it as a place to focus on some work after lectures!
This space has plug sockets and desks available.
It has a silent/quiet noise level and is open to all PET students.
This is nice space located near to the Engineering building, also close to The Link cafe. There is also dedicated study space upstairs, accessible by stairs or a lift located behind the entrance desk.
This space has a few plug sockets, a water fountain, desks and sofas available.
It has a studious buzz working volume, but is often quiet quiet outside of peak times, and is open to all students.

The library is full of flexible working spaces such as a Sensory Retreat and a Sensory Study Space, with a variety of working volumes depending on the space. Check out their website for more information.
To access more disability-related adjustments, speak to a member of Disability Services, who can register you for library adjustments.
