Hundreds of community actors and creators work together every four years to perform the York Mystery Plays. They draw on the heritage of the medieval craft guilds, bringing together a “community of communities” across the city.
In lockdown, I am working with amateur actors to create the Plays in our own homes. Lit matchsticks become Lucifer, gardens are turned into Eden, baths become Noah’s Flood. As part of this, I challenge you to create your own- with an eye to an online festival in 2021.
