Privacy Notice

This privacy notice is for any individual who provides personal data to the University of York’s Humanities Research Centre to allow us to include you in our Place and Community mailing list, and send you regular emails via that mailing list. It should be read in conjunction with the University of York’s General Privacy Notice

For the purposes of this privacy notice, University of York is the Data Controller as defined in the UK GDPR. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and our entry can be found here. Our registration number is: Z4855807.

Data is supplied to us by the data subject, that is yourself.

We have your name and email address. We may also hold your postal address and phone number. Where possible these will be specifically an institutional/business postal address and phone number, but in some cases we may hold your personal postal address or phone number where you have given us these and consented to our using them for this purpose (this will be by exception e.g. where someone does not have a business/institutional address or phone number).

The Humanities Research Centre will use your data in order to contact you with information that we believe may be of interest to you, primarily in relation to our “Place and Community” project, for example, to tell you about opportunities that you may find interesting or invite you to events. The legal basis on which we process your data is that you have given us your consent.

We will not share your data with anyone outside the University of York, and within the University, your data will only be shared with those who have a business need to be able to access it, primarily the Humanities Research Centre team.

Please access the University of York’s online General Privacy Notice for all other elements of this Privacy Notice, including information about your rights, how long we store your data and how we keep your data secure.
