Centre for the Study of Christianity and Culture, University of York
The Centre for the Study of Christianity and Culture has long been at the forefront of impactful, collaborative research at the University of York. This contribution, by Dee Dyas (Director) and Kate Giles (Co-Director, from October 2020) proposes the creation of a suite of multi-purpose experiential tools to connect residents and visitors with a sense of place and belonging in the wake of COVID-19. Building on our widely-acclaimed virtual recreation of medieval Canterbury, we propose the creation of digital reconstruction of Roman and medieval York as a portal for co-designed and co-produced content for place- and identity-making in collaboration with a host of York heritage partners. Our proposition is in part a pitch for funding but also a call for partners and colleagues to get in touch and be part of the project.
