Emma is a Lecturer in Psychology and leads the research group. Her research interests span learning, language, and literacy development.
Emma completed her undergraduate degree in Experimental Psychology (University of Oxford, 2010-2013), MSc in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience (University of York, 2014-2015), and PhD in Understanding individual differences in learning and consolidating new vocabulary (University of York, 2015-2019). She (re-)joined the University of York as a Lecturer in 2022, and particularly enjoys teaching Advanced Research Methods using R.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys exploring York with her local running group, cooking, and tending to her vegetable plants.
Yue is a second year PhD student in Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuroimaging, interested in how prior semantic knowledge influences new learning. In collaboration with Prof. Beth Jefferies, her current project investigates how morphemes influence the learning and consolidation of new vocabulary in adults, and the corresponding neural mechanisms.
Before joining the group, Yue completed a BSc in Psychology (University of York, 2018-2021) and MSc in Applied Psychology (Chinese University of Hong Kong, 2021-2023).
Yue is a member of the ECR Forum Committee. Outside of work, she enjoys tea house exploration and is a cat lover. As a former university choir member, she now enjoys singing and recording her vocal covers as a creative outlet.
Lucy is a Research Trainee working on the ESRC-funded project Word learning from childhood to adulthood. Her research interests include learning and memory across development, with a focus on language and numerical cognition.
Lucy completed a BSc and MSc in Psychology at the University of York, and a PGCE with QTS at the University of Huddersfield. Before joining the lab, she worked as a primary school teacher and SEND teaching assistant.
Outside of work, Lucy enjoys attending live music events, visiting local art studios in her hometown of Hebden Bridge, cooking, and travelling to explore art galleries and cultural landmarks abroad.
