For the first 9 months of my two years in Taiwan, I was a student at National Taiwan University (國立臺灣大學) where I studied Mandarin for three hours day, five days a week. It was in these classes, taught exclusively in Mandarin, that I developed my Chinese skills and interest in the zhuyin transcription system.

YorJourney Academic Assignment Tutor | University of York

July 2022 Helping prospective students enrolled on the University's YorJourney programme to write a 1,500 word essay on a given topic. This involved co-ordinating with the YorJourney team; liaising with the students via The Ambassador Platform and providing feedback on scripts.

VLE Project Support Officer | University of York

August 2023 - Present Assisting the Language and Linguistic Science department in its transition to an updated VLE platform. Ensuring module sites are properly populated and compliant with the university's commitment to accessibility. 

Research Assistant

Reliability Analysis (July-August 2022) Analysis of automatically time-aligned transcripts for a project on the influence of mothers' speech on infants. This involved assessing the accuracy of forced-alignment on 10% of utterances in a corpus of mother-infant speech. PI: Dr. Catherine Laing (Department of Language and Linguistic Science, University of York).

CLAN Transcription Conversion (May-June 2023) Conversion of transcripts to CHAT files compatible with CLAN software. Transcripts were re-corded with CLAN- compatible notation and errors were recorded in a transcription database. PI: Dr. Anna Brown (Department of Education, University of York). 

Self-Paced Reading (November-Present) Assisting with the set-up a self-paced reading experiment in Psychopy. Sentences were transferred into Psychopy and set up with corresponding comprehension questions and fillers. PI: Dr. Jelena O'Reilly (Department of Education, University of York).
