Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and Governance

The University has an institutional level Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (EDIC), which reports directly to UEB and acts as an overarching committee for various sub-groups covering a ranged of protected characteristics, advising on and sharing best ED&I practice, while developing and approving ED&I procedures and policies. The Equality and Diversity Office acts as a bridge between the Equality Champions Network and EDIC, enabling the network to provide termly updates to EDIC, enabling the upward flow of information by discussing any issues identified by the network.

For more information about EDIC see the following:

The University has its own Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy (2017-2022), which outlines the institutional vision and commitment to further advancing and embedding ED&I good practice across the institution. The ED&I Strategy is broken down into four key objectives and is underpinned by a wide-reaching action plan that's overseen and monitored by the University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. For more information see the following:

Some Equality Champions are supported by Departmental Equality and Diversity Groups / Committees, which quite often have their own budget/resources, Terms of Reference and action plans. However, not all departments are on the same stage of their EDI journey and for those who are still considering setting up an E&D Group / Committee, we have created the following resources to help inform their development:
