Exploring the neural correlates of the Self-regulation capacity and Self-world capacity in relation to wellbeing.
Exploring the neural correlates of the Self-regulation capacity and Self-world capacity in relation to wellbeing.
Researcher:
Cong Wang
Type of study:
EEG study
Study description:
This research dives into the brain with the ERP technique to uncover how two essential mental abilities—self-regulation capacity (SRC) and self-world capacity (SWC)—influence our wellbeing.
At the start of the recording session we will fit a cap with electrodes on your head and apply some clear gel at different points on your scalp. We will use a syringe with a long thin blunt metal tube (similar to a wide needle) to squeeze the gel into electrode openings. The activity from the surface of your head will be measured by a computer while some tones or facial expressions will be presented to you. The experimental task involves pressing buttons in response to target tones and face picture stimuli presented using a computer while we are recording your brain waves. We will also ask you to follow short guided attention practices.
