In December 2018 we held the first University of York Event for Administrators. The aims of this event were to: initiate discussions and provide administrators with an opportunity to share their own experiences of using Google and the Wiki; inspire them to try out tools; enable them to network and form connections beyond their departments and to promote future training opportunities. The event was very popular and we got lots of useful feedback. We have used this feedback, together with that from three digital events that we held over Summer, to develop this year's Google in Practice event.
Feedback from the 2018 event showed us that attendees wanted details about who the sessions are aimed at, what prior knowledge is expected and whether or not they would need to bring a device. We ensured that the session details had all this information. It was requested that we included much more "how to" guidance and demonstrations of tools within the sessions, so we included this in the programme, too.
The aims for this 2019 were the same as those of 2018. However, this time round we have extended our reach to all staff. There were a number of practical changes, one of which is this Google in Practice website, which we hope will help you to get more out of the event. We will have all of the resources for the sessions available on this website and lecture captures for many sessions. We hope that this will open up the event to a wider audience than those who can only attend on the day, so, if you find these resources useful, please share this website with colleagues.
We were so pleased to see you on the day; for those of you that were unable to attend, please see the further support page for ongoing resources and training offered by the Teaching and Learning team in Google and other applications (look on the LMS for more details).
We hope that you continue to find this information useful for the work that you do at the University.
