'Essential Apps Script' Training course: With Google Apps Script you can extend the features of Google Sheets, Forms, and Documents. This course is a series of five workshop sessions with a combination of instruction, live coding, and project work. There is an expectation that you will need at least an hour outside of the workshop to consolidate learning and ensure you finish the week’s project. What can you do with Apps Script? Bulk create folders in Drive (including adding permissions and other files/folders as required) Have Google Forms send emails upon submission; Create Documents, Sheets, and/or Calendar events from Form or Spreadsheet data Manipulate spreadsheet data (including archiving, monitoring for changes)

Originally developed to manipulate numerical data, spreadsheets are now used to manipulate and interact with all kinds of data using a wide range of functions and features. In these sessions, held over 5 weeks, you will learn how to exploit the capabilities of both Excel and Google Sheets, including features that are particularly helpful when working collaboratively. The course takes place over four weeks with an optional question-and-answer / knowledge-sharing session on the fifth week. Prerequisites: IT Services username and password. We will look at the features available in Qualtrics to set up surveys to collect the right data, mechanisms for distributing surveys, and how to create reports from the responses we get. In the session we will consider the respective pros and cons of Google Forms and Qualtics from survey design through to analysis.
