Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency & YoloWorks! is dedicated to bridging the digital divide by providing technical training and Chromebooks to individuals in need. Chromebook and mifis will be loaned up to 90 days prior to ownership per household with the completion of a Work Skills Certification.

ABOUT THE LOAN TO OWN PROCESS

Guidelines set by Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency are used to determine the priority status of each request according to availability of equipment, qualification of applicant and greatest public benefit. If you are approved and your application reaches the top of the waiting list, we will contact you by phone, or email. If we are unable to reach you, we will go on to the next applicant on the list. The waiting period for approved applications is approximately 7 days OR less.

ELIGIBILITY

• Must be a Yolo County resident and able to verify with identification. One Chromebook will be provided per household.

• Active jobseeker or enrolled in training program or classes.

• Do not have access to any other computers, laptops or digital devices.

• Not eligible to receive a device from community organization, community partner, or state funded program(s).

PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS

• Chromebooks loans are facilitated by Employment Center Specialists and are requested via online application or request to pick up a printed application at our Woodland location only.

• Customers enrolled in public assistance programs and general public currently are permitted to check one Chromebook, per household. Chromebooks cannot be reserved online or by phone and are distributed first-come, first-serve.

• Chromebooks are on loan to own for 90 days with the completion of a Work Skills Online Certification.

• Short-term and extended loans must be approved by Employment Services Manager.

• A state identification is required at check-out. The copy of the identification will be on file until the laptop is returned or term has been completed.

ABOUT THE DEVICES

We provide Chromebooks & Mifis

• Our systems are installed with Google Workspace to give you access to Google Meet, Calendar, email and Chrome.

• Our computers can access the Internet. You will need to purchase additional equipment to connect Wirelessly if a MiFi is not distributed.

Approved applicants will be given an appointment to pick up Chromebooks Monday- Friday between 8am to 4pm at our Woodland YoloWorks Career Services Center location at 25 North Cottonwood St. Incomplete and unapproved applications will not be contacted.
