How do I go about getting a Chromebook from YoloWorks!?
You qualify for a computer if you are a Yolo County resident, age 18 or older and submit a complete online application which includes a copy of your photo identification.
How do I go about getting a MiFi from YoloWorks!?
YoloWorks! has a limited amount of MiFis available that are available first come, first serve.
How do I get an application?
If interested complete on an online application from our website, www.yoloworks.org to submit. Applications will be processed on a first come, first serve basis. If you are from a community agency, please indicate if you are completing an application for a customer. You may also request to pick up an application from our Woodland office; or, call us at (530) 661-2641.
How long will it take for me to receive my computer once I apply?
After being approved the wait time could be 7 business days.
How will I know if I have been approved?
Applications are processed daily for approval. If your application is approved we will call you when your name moves to the top of the list. To find out where you are on the waiting list, please contact our Employment Center Staff at (530) 661-2641.
I have completed an application and have not been contacted?
All applications are processed first come, first serve. Please allow time for follow up on your submitted application.
What do I have to do once I receive a Chromebook?
Once approved and you have picked up your Chromebook, you will be required to do the following to keep the device:
Weekly check in is required to renew the loan of the Chromebook unit.
Submitting weekly verification of allowable activity is required to participate in the program.
Contact assigned Employment Center Staff.
Understand that failure to attend two (2) scheduled check in meetings, without making contact with assigned Employment Center Staff will result in ineligibility to continue loan program.
Complete 90 day Work Skills Work Certificate through Metrix Learning.
What is Metrix Learning?
Metrix Learning is a web-based learning management system designed to help unemployed, under-employed and dislocated workers who require new skills, enhanced skills, and certification training programs to prepare them for new employment opportunities.
Is Metrix Learning free?
Yes.
How long can I loan a Chromebook prior to owning it?
90 days with the completion of the Metrix Learning Work Skills Online Certification.
Can I get my Chromebook shipped to me?
No.
How do I pick up my Chromebook?
Once approved, you will be contacted to schedule a time to pick up your Chromebook at our Woodland location, 25 North Cottonwood Street. Please do not come to the office to inquire about a Chromebook device.
What do I need to bring when I pick up my Chromebook?
Proof of Identification. We will make a photocopy of this for your file.
What happens when I pick up my Chromebook?
Once provided a pickup date and time, your will be given a Digital Device Agreement and Chromebook Program expectations to sign. Staff will review how to get started and requirements while using the Chromebooks.
What sort of income verification is acceptable?
The application must be in the name of head of household. The name on the application must match the name on photo id. We loan one Chromebook per household. Examples of income verification: documents: current (within 30 days) check stubs, social services income verification letters, unemployment check stubs, bank statements with direct deposit information, proof of disability. You can black out your SS# and account numbers on all documents, but we need to be able to verify name and address. Do not send originals. Do not send bills or rent receipts. Please know that applications without income verification will not be processed.
What kind of equipment will I receive?
Once approved, customers will receive a Chromebook and MiFi (upon request for internet access).
Can I get a laptop?
Unfortunately, laptops are not available for loan.
Do I have to be a resident of Yolo County to receive a Chromebook?
Yes.

Please contact our Employment Center Staff at (530)661-2641 for assistance with your device, Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm.
What happens at the end of 90 days?
If you have completed the activities you will be contacted by Employment Center Staff to complete paperwork to turn ownership of the unit over to you. If you have not completed the activities you will be contacted by Employment Center Staff to return the unit within 5 business days.
What happens if my Chromebook is lost or stolen?
