Aftercare INFORMATION:
We Have made some changes to the registration process. There will no longer be Aftercare registration for each term. Instead, if students are not registered during the designated week (08/12/24-08/19/24), families must contact the Aftercare office to inquire about availability.
The daily rate for Aftercare registration will be $20.00*** a day. A student is only charged if they check into Aftercare. Please note they are charged the same amount no matter what time they check into or out of Aftercare.
***The price of all Yinghua Enrichment Classes, Music Lessons and Tutoring includes a $14/day fee for Aftercare.
Students who are registered in Aftercare will pay the $14/day fee on top of their Enrichment Class or Music Lesson fee for the duration of the class or lesson's term, instead of $20/day. Once their Enrichment Class Term is over or if they discontinue Music Lessons, your student's rate will return to $20/day.
Students who are not currently enrolled in Aftercare will be safely supervised on school grounds before and after their registered activity as a part of the $14 daily fee. Once the Enrichment Class, Music Lesson or Tutoring Term has ended your student can no longer attend Aftercare if they are not a registered Aftercare student (ex. After your child's last LEGO League class, your child can no longer stay afterschool in Aftercare unless they registered for Aftercare during the registration window).
***It is important to note that students may only attend Aftercare on the days they are registered for. If you require care for additional days, you may request it by calling the Extended Learning Coordinator (ext. 135) before 2 p.m. on the day you need extra care, but please be aware that space may be limited after the initial registration period for Term 1.
If your work or family schedule changes from one Term to the next, you may request a change in registered Aftercare days. An email notifying the Extended Learning Coordinator is required and will be accepted only at the end of each Term: Your students registered Aftercare weekly schedule cannot change within a Term. This email must contain the days you need to drop and the days you need to add for your student's weekly Aftercare schedule. Please email the Extended Learning Coordinator with any questions in advance of registering, as you will be responsible to pay for the days your student is registered and attends Aftercare; even if those dates differ.
For your convenience, Aftercare will be available on the first day of school, August 28th, 2024 for grades 1-8, and August 29th, 2024 for Kindergarten students.
Information regarding payments: You will be invoiced at the end of every month for the Aftercare services utilized. There is no upfront fee collected for Aftercare, and therefore, there is no cancellation penalty if you withdraw your child from the service. However, please note that past due fees must still be paid even after canceling Aftercare enrollment. Payment is expected on or around the 10th of the following month. If payment is not received, your child will be suspended from Aftercare services and they will be excluded from participation in fee-based after school activities, such as sports or dances, until the balance is paid in full.
Pre-registration through the Aftercare office is required for all childcare services. No drop-in Aftercare services available.
If care is needed and you are not currently on the roster, you may call the Aftercare office after 2 p.m. to inquire if there is any available space.
If your student is involved in an after school extra-curricular event (excluding classes, lessons, or private tutoring), such as sports or DLO events, they must be picked up when the event ends. Students will not be checked into Aftercare.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Aftercare office (ext. 135). We are here to assist you.
If your Registration to Aftercare is Accepted Please Read the Following!!
Aftercare begins when school ends at 3:30 p.m. Students check in with Aftercare staff ( in the cafeteria for grades 2nd-8th and in the Art room for grades K & 1st) before heading to the playground for outdoor time. Remember to send appropriate outerwear! In the event of inclement weather, students will remain inside and will have the option of various toys, games, and craft and art activities to choose from.
If your child's Aftercare registration is approved you MUST register your child with a Yinghua Boonli account before the first day of school: even if your child does not receive school lunch, Boonli is crucial in being able to offer ALL children a free snack during Aftercare.
If you qualify for free or reduced lunch you MUST complete this Waiver of Confidentiality form and return it the the Aftercare office before 08/31/2024 in order to receive a discounted Aftercare rate.
If you are approved for Aftercare through the Aftercare office please ensure your student's Silent Dismissal is set for "Aftercare ONLY ", on the days you want them in Aftercare. Aftercare + Classes/Lessons is only for students who are enrolled in a current music lesson, enrichment class, or tutoring session.
If your student is enrolled in Sports Sampler or another Athletic activity after school but you want them to join Aftercare when they are finished, you will set them for the first location they will go to afterschool, and email the Extended Learning Coordinator to alert them that your student(s) will be joining Aftercare when their Athletic program finishes.
Families are not able to make changes in Silent Dismissal after 1 p.m. You can find information about using Silent Dismissal by following this link. We no longer offer drop-in Aftercare services. If there is a situation of which you need Aftercare on any given day and your child is not on our rosters, you can call the Aftercare office after 2 p.m. and inquire if there is space on that day. We will gladly fill any daily slots due to absences.
Parents/guardians pick up Aftercare students no later than 6:00 p.m. at Door 2, where an electronic check-out is required each day. To pick up your student, show your dismissal card at Door 2, and staff will call for your student to meet you there. Please note, if you have forgotten the dismissal card, you must show your ID to the Aftercare staff that works at Door 2. A fee of $1/minute, per child will be charged for late pick-up. See the Student and Family Handbook for more details about Aftercare.

Homework First (hwf) : PLease email aftercare@yinghuaacademy.org for the google form link. Your student will remain on this list throughout the school year unless you remove them from the list. To remove your student from the HWF list use the same form you used when initially registering.
WHAT: Homework First (HWF) is homework help for Aftercare students by Yinghua staff. Although we cannot guarantee every student completes their homework in HWF, staff support a quiet environment and are there to answer questions.
WHO: Applicable to registered Aftercare students through the Extended Care office only. All students on the HWF list are sent to the library before they can participate in any other Aftercare activities. ~~Kindergarteners only receive homework on Fridays. Thus, they will only be sent to the HWF room on Fridays if you register them for HWF.~~
PLEASE NOTE:
Aftercare staff will ask HWF students if they have homework each day. They will send the students to HWF with the homework they have brought to Aftercare.
Aftercare staff will try their best to ask all HWF students if they have completed all of their work. If your student tells us "Yes," we will believe them until we are notified otherwise by you.
Completing homework in one hour is not always possible for every student or with every day's assignments. Homework First is a place where students have the option to complete their homework in a quiet and supportive environment but HWF staff cannot guarantee that every child leaves HWF with their homework completed.
If a student is disruptive to other students in HWF and this disruptive behavior continues after a warning from HWF staff, the student will be sent back to Aftercare for the day.
WHEN: Students who are registered for HWF will be sent to the library everyday (Monday-Friday), unless you note otherwise in the comments/concerns section. HWF is open everyday from 4:00 to 5:00/5:15 PM (upon staff availability.)
WHERE: Library, Room 150
ROLLOVER: Students registered for HWF list will remain on the list through the end of the school year, unless you remove them. To remove your student from our HWF list complete this form again, but click "Remove from HWF list."
