The three-part curriculum includes:
The Toolbox – Each month, participants will learn a set of skills to improve their ability to develop self-awareness, know and use their leadership strengths, build and work with teams, understand differences, be able to have difficult conversations successfully, practice effective public speaking, give and receive feedback and a host of other tools that will enhance their success and confidence. The Toolbox programming will be facilitated by the Program Leadership Team, subject matter experts, Latinx leaders, and others.
Community Awareness – Through speakers, panels, and dialogues, organized by the fellows themselves, participants will learn how systems work and what particular issues of the Latinx community they want to engage in as active community members.
Latinx Issues Discussions- One session each month will occur in the morning and will be a gathering of the program participants and their Apoyados. They will engage in small group dialogues and hear from speakers and panels about topics related to the Latinx experience in the Sacramento region. Each meeting will have a theme – the diversity of the Latinx population, immigration experiences, how do Latinx business, appointed, or elected leaders use power and influence, and how they collaborate to get their goals accomplished. Through this unique monthly program, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the particular experiences of the Latinx community and get connected to influential leaders who can help them grow in their professional and civic careers.
In addition to the monthly meetings, each participant will be encouraged to meet once a month with his or her Apoyado for personal coaching/mentoring. Program staff and Advisors will also engage with participants to help them map out their goals and journey based on their individual Strengths.
This is a unique and powerful opportunity to engage in a program that will jump-start each person’s career and give them the knowledge, tools, confidence, and connections to take their place at the tables of leadership in the region.
