As a Community Partner or YCP educator, you might be interested in recruiting, supporting, and possibly paying York College students with specialized skills, training, or career interests. These opportunities are typically pursued as field experiences, internships, or community-based job opportunities.
The Spartan Volunteer Network does not coordinate field experiences, internships, or community-based jobs for YCP students or alum. Field experiences are coordinated by various academic departments, and the Career Development Center uses Handshake, a platform for employers to recruit YCP students and alum for internships and community-based jobs. More information about field experiences, internships, and student employment are below.
What is a field experience?
Various academic departments at York College require students to participate in field experiences. Field experiences may include internships, co-ops, student teaching, clinical rotations, work placements, supervised research, and others. Semester-long study abroad experiences also qualify.
Who coordinates field experiences for YCP students?
YCP Education program: Education-specific field experiences are coordinated by the York College Education Department. Information about Education-specific field experiences, including contact information, can be found at this link.
Additional academic programs: Field experiences & experiential learning experiences are typically coordinated through individual academic departments, and the roles, responsibilities, and expectations for field experience supervisors may vary based on the department. Organizations can reach out to a specific academic department to ask if their department coordinates field experiences, and how your organization might get involved. A list of academic departments and contacts is available at this link.
