Every school has a culture that is palpable from the moment you enter the building, and that culture has been masterfully captured in this newsletter. At St. Theresa, there is a lived belief in the power of youth to impact change; to have a voice; to make a difference. As athletes, student leaders, innovators, and participants, our students and staff remain the greatest examples of doing the ordinary with extraordinary love. There is passion, purpose and pleasure in all we do – you can see it for yourself as you scroll through the last few months of life at STL.
2020 has presented its fair share of challenges; however, despite those challenges, our staff remained focused on ensuring that our students were very well prepared for first semester final exams. The extra- curricular life of the school continues to thrive with dedicated staff who work hard to ensure our students are strong competitors, powerful advocates, intelligent ambassadors, and collaborative team players in the numerous clubs, councils, committees, and teams to which they belong. We have much of which to be proud!
Throughout February, our Guidance Counselors visited all grade 9, 10 and 11 homeroom classes to review the course selection process with our students, and assist them with choosing courses for next year. These courses will inform our master schedule for the 2020-2021 school year. Parents, you are encouraged to review your child’s course selection to ensure their academic success and wellbeing.
Our grade 12 students are now completing the last leg of their high school careers, and determining which post-secondary institution’s offer of admission to accept. We are confident that whatever path they choose, they will be well prepared with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities that post-secondary demands.
Our Catholic faith continues to be the centre from which all things emanate. We are blessed to have the continued support of Father Peter Choi and Father Pawel Zborowski, celebrating masses, hearing confessions and offering spiritual guidance when needed. As we continue along our Lenten journey, let us not forget the Lenten observances of prayer, fasting and alms giving. May God continue to bestow upon us all abundant joy and peace always.
