Junior Boys's Rugby:

This year's edition of the Junior Boys' Rugby team was quite a success. The team was primarily made up of grade 9 boys, with a smattering of important grade 10's. The season started with a successful Red Hot tournament on a blustery April afternoon. The regular season was also a success, as the team finished in second place in the tier one division. In the semi finals, they lost a very close game to St.Max. The team's success was a result of their cohesion and dedication. Mr.Savoia and Mr.Dawson want to thank the boys for their commitment and selfless behaviour.

Senior Boys' Rugby:

The Sr. Boys' Rugby team had a fantastic season. After a very successful tour to Hawaii, the team was eager to get the season underway. After big wins over St. Max, Father Bressani and Huron Heights in the regular season, the Lions qualified for the YRAA Championship game where they would take on Bill Crothers. After trailing for in the first half of the finals, the second half would see our Lions claw their way back into the game with incredible offensive possessions putting dozens of phases together and wear out the Colts defense. Eventually, the Lions would punch in a try to be trailing by just 6 points with 10 minutes left in the game. With an opportunity to take the outright lead with just 3 minutes to go, the Lions pressed from just 3 yards from the Crothers goal line. After some bad luck, the colts would fend off the late fury and eventually move the ball out of harm's way. Crothers would end the game with one last try on the final play of the game making the final score 22 to 11.

Mr. Onorati and Mr. Azar would like to congratulate the Sr. Boys on an incredible Rugby season that saw them win two YRAA tier 1 Silver Medals in both Rugby 7s and 15s. Their commitment and never say die attitude is something truly special. This group of young men have gained the admiration and respect of not only the STL community, but of the entire Rugby community in the YRAA and Ontario alike. Lastly, Thank you to our graduating grade 12 players for all your leadership through these last 4 years. You will be missed!

Junior Co-ed Badminton:

The STL Badminton team once again had a terrific spring season. Eight of the team's sixteen player roster made it through the 1st round at KC Badminton Club. The 2nd Round had 2 girl single make it to the Pan Am Centre YRAA Championship. Both Jodi Sy and Shiya Zhang did well that day, with Shiya placing 4th overall in competition. Excellent season Lions. Congratulations to all team members.

Junior Co-ed Volleyball:

This was a team of grade 9s and 10s that had to play against senior teams around York Region for the majority of the year. Despite this, they had a record about .500 and flashed tons of potential for York Region to look out for in the next couple of years. In the final tournament of the year, one team dropped out so STL split their team into two equal squads. Both teams pushed and pushed and had an incredible final tournament of the year. The team bonded and showed the type of chemistry that can hopefully win a championship in a couple of years.

Senior Co-ed Volleyball:

The seniors had been looking forward to this season for the entire year, and we had enough players to put forth both a grade 11 team and a grade 12 team (featuring Khushal).

Both teams practiced together and pushed each other to be the best they can be. The bond these teams have built over the last 3-4 years was evident during practices and our tournament days when both teams would rush out to the picnic tables outside to hang out and chat between games. The strong bonds were even more evident during games with the amount of talking, laughing and winning that went on.

Other coaches around the league spoke of how talented STL was and how they hated being placed in their division... and this was all very warranted! STL showed their balanced and powerful attack, strong defense, yet with a very laid-back mentality and perfect volleyball etiquette. They dominated at times, and still pushed through when injuries plagued to finish a very fun and successful season!

Your coaches are proud of you all! Great job this year and good luck!

Table Tennis:

Coaches Mr. Deocampo, Mr. Peticca and Mr. Puopolo are very proud of the STL Table Tennis Team. It has been several years since there was a league, but this year the team came out strong and were successful in securing the YRAA Team Championship! Congrats on a terrific season!
