The Little Flower

Summer Issue 2019

A Message from our Principal, Mrs. Faraone

What an extraordinary year at St. Theresa of Lisieux! This year has been marked by numerous successes, both in the classroom and in the rich extracurricular life of our school. We have much of which to be proud! I would like to thank the St. Theresa faculty, students and parent community for their commitment to excellence and for continuing to nurture a culture of the little way inspired by our patroness. We are truly blessed to be given the opportunity to be a part of one another’s story, sharing in our students’ successes and watching them develop their God-given talents and skills. We take such pride in being educators because when we look back at all that has happened this year, we recognize that in some small way, we were able to partake in our students’ lives, and that is truly sacred.

To the graduating class: our hope is that when you look back on your high school years, you will remember them with fondness, with joy, and with great satisfaction knowing that here the seeds of your future successes were sown. As you start the next chapter in your educational journey, remember that St. Theresa will always be your home. Thank you for your numerous contributions to our school. May God bless your journey, and keep you safe always!

To our Catholic School Council, under the leadership of Chair Tina Perri: your dedication is awe-inspiring. Thank you for your support of numerous initiatives this year. It is always a pleasure to work with such dedicated parents. A strong partnership between home and school is essential to the success and well-being of our students. Your commitment and dedication is much admired and appreciated.

To Father Peter, Father Pawel, Father Jimmy, and Father Victor: thank you for celebrating mass with us and offering the sacrament of reconciliation to us at St. Theresa of Lisieux throughout this past year. Your presence has nourished our souls. It is a blessing to have such committed, caring and genuinely Christ-centered individuals as members of our staff. Thank you for living the little way with us.

To our teaching staff who are moving on to positions of greater responsibility: Mrs. Britt-Steiner, Mrs. Falzone and Mr. Paniccia: your numerous contributions to our school over the years have enriched the lives of all those with whom you have worked, staff and students alike. As you move on to serve other communities, know that your ‘little way’ has left an indelible mark on all of us. We wish you well in all your new endeavours.

To our teaching staff and administrators who are retiring; Mrs. Balkovec, Mrs. Shephard, Mrs. DiLuciano, Mr. Babic and Mr. Marosszeky: thank you for your many years of service to St. Theresa of Lisieux. Your commitment to our students and community has helped to create the culture that so aptly defines us: a culture of caring, of compassion, of integrity, and of excellence. Each of you is an integral part of the fabric and life of St. Theresa of Lisieux. Your impeccable work ethic and dedication to all things STL will be sorely missed. We wish you continued success and much happiness as you enter into the next phase of your personal journeys.

Joining our Administrative team in September are Mr. Marin and Mr. Jorge. Mr. Marin comes to STL from St. Maximillian Kolbe, where he has been a VP for the last 2 years. Mr. Jorge comes to us from Jean Vanier CHS in Toronto, where he has been the department head of Science. We look forward to working with Mr. Marin and Mr. Jorge in the next academic year, and to their many forthcoming contributions to our community.

We are excited to meet our new grade 9 students in September and to welcome them to our STL family.

On behalf of Mr. Babic, Mr. Marosszeky, Mrs. Mastromartino and I, we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Summer Break!
