NEWS, EVENTS, & STUDENT WORK FROM SBA'S ARTS DEPARTMENT

The Arts program at SBA strives to tap into the creative potential and God-given talents of all of our students. We welcome students of all abilities: whether you come with experience or have never taken an arts course before, our caring and knowledgeable teachers will help you develop your full potential. All students are required to take one arts course in order to fulfill their graduation requirements and with a wide range of courses offered in visual arts, musical arts and dramatic arts, the possibilities are endless.

At SBA's Arts Department, we offer students the spaces, materials and instructional practice that they need to develop their skills and pursue creative pathways if desired. Research shows how arts education can positively impact academic achievement, social and emotional development, civic engagement and equitable opportunity. We offer so many extracurricular opportunities where our students create life-long friendships such as choir, band, Arts Council, performing on stage, field trips etc. Visit us, follow us or contact us to learn more!

SBA's Arts students were able to watch YCDSB speaker series interview featuring SBA alumnus Alan Barillaro. Alan is a supervising animator for Pixar and won an academy award for his short film “Piper”. He had so many wonderful nuggets of wisdom to share with our students about pathways in the arts, portfolio development, vulnerability, risk taking and more! He gave special recognition to his art teacher and our very own Mr. Tracanelli and the SBA art program for fueling his passion and giving him the safe space to grow and nurture it.
