Why retreats are important...

The York Catholic District School Board recognizes the significance of spiritual renewal by supporting, in partnership with their parish retreat experiences for students.

Jesus himself went away to secluded places to pray and be in the presence of his Father: "On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, 'Let us go across to the other side.' And leaving the crowd behind, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was" (Mark 4:35)

...It is an expectation that in our Secondary schools students particiapte in an annual retreat offered by the school during the school day. This is an integral part of being a student in a Catholic school, along with the participation in daily prayer and liturgical celebrations, and the study of Religious Education. Policy 314
