Students who participate in the cooperative education program are able to create strong relationships among their fellow classmates, employees, and supervisors. Through their valuable work experience some have been offered part-time employment and have well deserved references that will support their future paths towards college, university, apprenticeships, or the workforce.
With the support of community partners, employers/supervisors, our students are able gain valuable experience that will enrich their lives, develop essential skills, and provide them with a better understanding and appreciation of the world of work.
Cooperative Education gives employers the opportunity to:
Train and evaluate potential employees
Develop supervisory skills in employees
Contribute to career education
Promote positive attitudes toward the organization
Increase student awareness of community values and interests
Promote awareness of job opportunities
Help reduce youth unemployment
Render a vital public service
Promoting awareness of businesses and potential job opportunities within the community
Developing relationships/partnerships with our school
Integrating practical workplace experience, attitudes, and expectations with curriculum
Keeping teachers up-to-date with current workplace practices
Students will be more aware and utilize community resources
The Father Michael McGivney Cooperative Education Program has created long lasting, positive relationships with many community partners over the years.
