Vlad's Artist Statement:
I created two solo piano preludes - one in major and one in minor during the pandemic time because I needed them for my CPT assignment in Integrated Arts. The basic idea of the first piece in F minor is to display auditory people’s feelings and emotions such as difficulty, challenges of illness, loss of family members, isolation. The purpose of the 2nd piano piece in G major is to express how people can tune their emotions and feelings through music to peace, seeing loved ones, no fear of falling sick, and interacting face to face positively. The minor audible work reflects sadness, difficulty, darkness, etc and the major one reflects happiness, positive, hope, uplifting emotions. Both piano pieces represent two reactions from experiencing COVID being optimistic or pessimistic.
A Pandemic Story
Louella and Andrea
Our piece is a video depicting the story of two friends during a worldwide pandemic. It displays the hardships and conflicts that youth may have most likely faced during lockdowns. We represented this through the friendship of two girls. Throughout the video, the two girls were separated by covid and showed the process of them drifting apart. Andrea and I used music that matched the context of the story to go along with the video and dramatize it better. As said earlier, the video is representing two girls in lockdown throughout a pandemic we are facing in our everyday lives. We wanted to make a piece people can relate to and connect with. This piece is meaningful and covers the topic of life through covid, which makes it a great piece for the overall group exhibit.
The Two Sides of Covid in Dance Form
Nina A. & Victoria C.
Victoria and I, made 2 separate dances to show two sides of Covid. The artists for the more happy and upbeat dance are Ariana Grande and the Weekend. While for the sad dance, the artist was Adele. We were also the artists for our dance piece. We used every part of our body to show our emotion and affection in the dance. We used jumps such as jetés. We also used turns such as pivot turns and pirouettes etc.. Our main idea in our choreography was to show how we felt, some examples were feeling hurt, sad, alone, for the sad dance.
During the second dance (happier dance), we were showing more ubeat emotions, happiness, not feeling as lonely, working together, etc. The symbolism for our dances was one being the sad part of Covid so we chose a sad song which was “Go Easy On Me” by Adele, we wore all black clothes to symbolize the sadness of this part in our life.
The happy and positive side of Covid we chose was a more upbeat and happy song which was a hip hop upbeat dance. The song we chose was “Save Your Tears For Another Day” by the Weekend and Ariana Grande. We wore pink to symbolize happiness and it reminds us of Ariana Grande. We feel that our dances express our emotions through movements very well. Our dances show that Covid is a rollercoaster of emotions.
The audio I record are things that I see everyday.I see people wearing masks, socializing and people are trying to find ways to have fun and to make money.I record this audio so that people could hear the how things are in the world and how the world have change because of the virus.I want people to hear the negative and positive experiences that have affected our lives.

Mediums: Solo Piano and Acrylic Paint on Canvas
1st part: This piece shows the tempest of emotions that someone feels when battling the struggles of covid like losing someone -- they feel lost and isolated, the music gathers the emotions and puts it into the song, flowers can’t grow without rain, just like how we feel isolated without friends.
2nd part: This piece shows that there is happiness and light in everything because, as said, life goes on. The music signifies that there can be a found hope in everything-- as old flowers wither away, new ones will grow.
