Purpose:
To create a visually appealing flyer (mini poster), using Google Slides or Canva, that demonstrates your knowledge of your assigned invention.
The invention I studied is called the Calotype which is an early photographic process invented in 1841 by William Henry Fox Talbot in England. It works by exposing a sheet of sensitized paper in a camera, then developing, fixing, and washing it to create a negative image. This negative can be used to make multiple positive prints, which was a major advancement over earlier methods. The Calotype was cheaper and more accessible, especially to middle-class people, compared to other methods in its time. It produced softer, more artistic images and helped pave the way for commercial photography. The calotype helped turn photography into a way to share moments, stories, and people’s lives more widely. It also inspired future inventions in photography by showing how negatives could be used to make many prints.
