Essential Question: What are the necessary skills to create a convincing still life drawing?
Purpose:
To create a still-life drawing that demonstrates understanding of angles & ellipses in perspective, along with using a chosen and conscious mark-making technique to describe form;
To understand value by creating a good range of values between black & white to help make the objects appear 3D;
To demonstrate quality craftsmanship and good composition skills in a drawing.
Artists Studied: Henry Moore, Giorgio Morandi, Kerry James Marshall, Vincent van Gogh, Winslow Homer, John Whalley
Reflection
I used hatching, I would describe the value I used as dark all around but t darker party where you need them. Giorgio Morandi influenced me the most because I like how his own drawings look older than they are. Hatching made me think about the darker spaces more than I would with a different style. Because of how few lines you need to make some parts darker.
The differences I notice from my first draw to my final are not as many outlines on the shapes and using more darker spots on the finale. I saw my work improve the most in the shading and shape drawings. One of my take away is using value in the places you need them I learned a lot on how and where you need to do that.
