Purpose:
Identify key traits of Pop Art;
Use warm and cool colors effectively;
Choose fonts that express personality;
Create a pop art name design using bright colors and patterns;
Create a name design that shows quality craftsmanship.
The key traits of pop art include contrasting colors, a unique font, and rotating and expanding letters to break the boarder to show creativity. I showed these traits by using warm colors for the pattern in the back, and focusing on using cool colors for the letters so that the letters really stick out from the back. I also chose two different design patterns so you can really tell the difference between the background and the letters. I first found a font that had cool and unique looking letters and arranged them all to look how they normally would, then rotated them to create a design with more life to it. By doing this I broke the boarder of the art to really make the letters pop out of the picture, plus I added a 3d look to each of them to show how they pop out. Then I finally enlarged some of the letters like the first and last to prevent myself of having consistency in my art and making it look more life-like and creative. I chose the cool font because I wanted one where the letters look very different from the classic font, like the last letter that is a unique version of itself, and the first one that looks like it could be two different letters. I also chose this font because I wanted one with unique lines like diagonal ones and curvy ones to have flow to them, plus to make it easier to give them a 3d look. Doing this project, I learned how to push myself to making my art not perfect and also expanding the space it takes up and not being shy with how much room I take up with my artwork. The way I pushed through this was I made each of the letters bigger than I thought they should be, and moved them far outside the boarder to make them seem like the focal point. I also learned that even though I use inspiration pictures for the font and for the patterns, I don't have to make everything look identical to the picture, I can also add my own design to it and change it to look like my art, to my liking. Lastly I learned that when making artwork I can use different types of colors, though something can seem like it only needs one type of color I can still add different contrasting colors to make it more exciting and interesting and avoid consistency.
