Purpose:
To demonstrate understanding of accurate perspective of cylinders and cubes;
To use a variety of mark-making strategies to practice and demonstrate the value changes on forms, helping them appear 3D
To practice using a variety of media to draw a still life
Artists Studied: Henry Moore, Vincent van Gogh, Giorgio Morandi
1)I think that the best part of my drawings is shown in my attempts to achieve the vlalues and shadows. While drawing each of these, I took time to look at the values of the piece in real life and see how I could translate that on to paper. I think using different techniques for each drawing allowed me to see how much work I need to put in to make the values darker. For example the controlled scribble, I could go over the lines as many times as it took to get it darker and you could still tell it was scribbles. However with the dotting method, I quickly realized that dots take up much less space, so it took longer to complete, and I had to be more careful so it would end up looking like a bunch of blobs.
2)I think the angels of the objects is super important to the piece. When you are just starting to draw the piece I think it's super important to look at how everything correlates with each other, and see what the size of some things are compared to others to make sure the final product looks proportional.
