Final Thoughts:
Two of the most important concepts I learned this semester are the shading techniques in our still life unit, and imitation drawing. The still life drawing is important to my learning because still life is what I usually draw if I am doodling, so being able to draw more detailed and visually appealing pieces of art in my free time is very cool. imitation drawing is also an important concept for me because it showed me how to take in a picture and put out a replica through the grid technique, I thought it was very interesting and useful. these two concepts I chose both involve drawing on paper, which is my favorite type of art to do because I feel it is the quickest way to convey the image, and it is very easy to get better at.
Assignment that I am the most proud of is my Atlantic Puffin endangered species tile. I am most proud of this piece because it combined multiple types of art, clay, painting, and writing. The cool thing about this project was that I got to learn about all of the endangered species in New England and why they are going extinct, it made me more aware of the impact that humans have had on the environment and that there is not much more time with some of these animals. I think that my piece is what I am most proud of becasue of the research and learning behind it.
Some of the things that inspire me to make art include what I am most passionate about at the time, something that I’m looking forward to, and other spur-of-the-moment ideas. When I am drawing I mostly just doodle or try to make a portrait of someone doing an activity or someone in a certain setting, that is probably my strongest skill in art, but as with all things, it can get much better. This semester I am wanting to improve my details and the configuration of the characters that I am drawing, I want to be able to stay consistent in my work and be able to re-create a piece. Those are my goals and beliefs on art for this semester.
