Purpose:
To photograph in the style of Walter Wick, inspired by his work in the “I Spy” children’s book series.
To photograph an arrangement of objects that express a similar theme.
To arrange objects into a complex composition that leads the eye and demonstrates an understanding of balance, lighting, and color.
To create a rhyme that connects to the hidden objects.
Shells scattered on ocean floor,
Hidden treasures, there's much more:
A tile among the coral reef,
A pipe cleaner like tangled leaf,
A drifting hat upon the waves,
A ticket that the ocean saves—
Some nature's gifts, some human trace,
In this vast underwater space.
In the darkroom's gentle glow,
Where lamp light swings soft and low,
A button from a camera case,
Rolls beneath prints with quiet grace.
Scissors, rulers line the shelf,
While photos dry all by themself,
A paperclip holds memories tight,
As negatives dance in red light.
A mosaic tile from ages past,
Sits where creative dreams are cast,
Near an old admission ticket,
In this artistic, cluttered thicket.
