Two of the most important concepts I learned this semester
Two of the most important concepts I learned this semester are the concepts of value and perspective. I believe that the concept of value is an important concept that I learned this semester because of the significance of light. The presence of light is how we are able to interpret the world, and it is what creates the difference between values. Before learning about value, I had no idea how to create realistic value with a pen. However, after completing the "Value Scales" assignment (pictured below), I learned how to create difference in value using three different methods: hatching, cross hatching, and controlled scribbling. With this knowledge, I was able to use the style of hatching to create a wide and realistic range of values in my final still-life drawing (pictured below). The other important concept that I learned this semester was the concept of perspective. This concept was incredibly helpful for me because it allowed me to draw realistic shapes without having to guess the placement of lines. Before learning about both one- and two-point perspective, I drew shapes based on an estimation of what looked right to me. However, after learning of the concept of perspective, I am now able to employ a precise methodology that doesn't rely on guesswork in order to create realistic drawings, including my one-point perspective of a room (pictured below).

The assignment that I am the most proud of
Looking back at all of my work over the past semester, it is hard to pinpoint just one piece that I am the most proud of. I am proud of all my work because I put in my best effort for every assignment that I completed. However, if I had to choose just one assignment, I would sat that I am most proud of my endangered species ceramic bowl (pictured below). For one, the process of creating the bowl took over a month! Selecting my endangered animal, drawing it, and then crafting and painting the bowl were all steps that I took that led to my beautiful final result. Not only that, but I put in hours of work after school in order to create a quality product while still meeting the deadline of the project. Finally, I am the most proud of my endangered species animal bowl because I believe it is the prettiest work I created over the entire semester. Not only did I spend hours laboring over the shape of the animal, I also spent just as much time planning out the colors and patterns that now adorn my bowl. For these reasons, the assignment that I am the most proud of is my endangered species animal bowl.
