Purpose
To look at and photograph objects from different sides and angles while zooming in to create an intriguing series of abstract images.
To capture completely different information about the object- its form, color, texture, material/surface, etc.
To use space and manipulate your light source.
In what ways were you able to "abstract" your objects, make them unrecognizable? What were some of your strategies?

The photo makes the skull hard to recognize. It's zoomed in close, from a weird angle, and blurry around the edges. The plain background makes the skull's texture and lines stand out more than its shape. The long seam/line looks rough and like a rugged valley running through the image. This makes the skull seem less like a skull and more like an interesting pattern.
"Spine"

The photo of the wooden frog is a close-up that shows the texture of the wood very well. You can see all the detail and bumps in the wood. The frog's shape isn't the main thing you notice. Instead, it's the details of the wood and the bumps; it almost looks like a small piece of wooden artwork, rather than a toy frog.
"Wear and Tear"

The picture of the puppet's hand is also very close. Because of this, we mostly see how worn and damaged the puppet is. The material looks old and broken down. You can see all the little holes and marks on it, showing how old it is. It's not so much about seeing a hand as it is about seeing how the material is damaged and worn.
"Cracks"

The photo of the animal skull is a close-up shot. It's so close that the skull looks less like a bone and more like a rough, rocky surface. You can see all the little cracks and bumps; the overall shape of the skull is hard to see because of all the texture. It almost looks like a picture of a dry, cracked earth, instead of an animal bone.
"Hiden face"

This shot of a wooden frog is interesting because its texture making it look like a hidden face. The bumps down the middle of the frog's back, combined with the way its body curves, creates the illusion of a face. The spine is like a nose, and the curves of the frog's body look like cheeks and eyes. The red color makes the photo more intense.
