For 6th grade, we use the Connected Mathematics Project curriculum (we call it CMP). This is based on investigatory learning and guided discovery. Students are loaned a textbook for the unit, and we cycle through around 5 units throughout the course of the year. They are as follows:
"This definitely isn't the Math I learned as a kid" - Almost every 6th grade parent
The steps that we take in our class to develop number sense and mathematical reasoning may be foreign to you, but that's ok! One of the best things you can do is learn and struggle alongside your child. It's an opportunity to model determination and grit!
If you are looking for math work for your child, try looking through some of the resources in the Padlet below! Some are meant to reinforce and practice concepts we go over in class, and others are meant to be a bit of a stretch for those who want more. Please let me know if there is a broken link and I'll get right on it!
