Hello! I teach Math and Science here at HMS. I grew up in Maine (I'm a true Mainah!) and attended the University of Vermont for a BS in Environmental Science. After teaching outdoor education (and loving it), I went back to get my Masters in education. Everyday I come home and bug my wife with some wacky middle school story or event, and I love how no two days are ever the same!
I am a bit of a nature-nerd and am interested in everything that has to do with the wild universe we live in. I also enjoy hiking, ice-climbing, skiing, biking, woodworking, and canoeing with my dog and my wife. However, we just embarked on a new type of adventure: a baby girl! We welcomed Vera into the family in April of 2019, and have been busy (and a bit tired) ever since!
I believe that success can be made through a combination of effort, curiosity, creativity, and failure. In class, I do everything to promote questions and reward a positive attitude. Throughout each year I encourage kindness and compassion with all students, and love recognizing them for it!
