ESSENTIAL LEARNINGS for Sexuality Unit

1.Students will differentiate between terms sex and sexuality.

Analyze and discuss the broad spectrum of terms associated with sexuality and gender.

2. Students will learn about reproductive anatomy.

Define the functions and demonstrate an understanding of reproductive anatomy and physiology.

3. Students will learn about abstinence and contraception as methods to prevent pregnancy, HIV and other Sexually Transmitted infections.

4. Decision Making: Students will apply refusal skills and decision-making skills to hypothetical situations relevant to their age group.

Students will learn about and use refusal skills in peer/relationship pressure situations related to the topics of sexual health.

5. Relationships: Students will practice communicating about relationship issues.

Clarify beliefs about a variety of relationship issues and to practice discussing the issues and to hear different points
