Reflecting on my Goals for the Semester-
The main goal I had for this semester was to improve my realistic painting and drawing skills. I certainly improved my drawing skills because of new techniques I learned, such as proper shading and proportions, and also just getting lots and lots of practice. I don't think I improved my realistic painting skills very much, because I often had trouble figuring out how to make little details and shade with paint, and we did more realistic drawing than painting this semester, so I didn't have as much practice. To the left are two realistic drawings I made.
My art plans in the future-
I have this idea that I will make another self portrait years from now and compare it to the self-portrait I made this semester, but that will be done a long time in the future. For the near-ish future I've been thinking about taking photo one because I like photography, so I wouldn't really be able to use my drawing and painting skills (I don't think) but I would like to learn more about photography. Outside of school, some of my cousins and aunts are art lovers, so I'm excited for this summer when I can possibly talk about art concepts with them and see what they think about some of the pieces of art I created this semester.
First Thoughts/Goals for the Semester-
A few things that inspire me to make art are nature, animals, and other artists' artwork. A goal I have for the semester is to improve my realistic skills all-around, so improve in realistic painting and realistic drawing. Some first thoughts I've had are that I've liked doing the zentangle/doodle initial drawing, and I like attempting the still life drawing, but I'm finding it fairly challenging. I also like the jazz music that is always playing in the classroom.
