The Preassignment is designed to get you started on the themes and ideas of this course.
Getting started in Google Classroom:
- Go to https://classroom.google.com/
- If you are new to Google Classroom it will ask if you are a student or a teacher, you should select "Teacher".
- Click on the + button and choose to join the class with the code: y82o237.
- Click on "Stream", click on the gray button "OPEN" for the PreAssignment.
- Click on the Google Doc link for the Preassignment. Classroom will create a copy that is just for you and has your name on it. Use this to complete your assignment.
- When you have finished your work make sure to "Turn it In" before class on June 23rd.
Article 1
- Read the article "Teaching in 2017: A Checklist for 21st Century Teachers" by TeachThought Staff
- Review the text and examples related to each item in the Checklist at the beginning of the article.
- Select two of the ten items on the checklist, describe how you would follow the ideas of this article to add innovations to your classroom based on these items. Use the document called PreAssignment in Google Classroom to write your response.
Article 2
- Read "Slapping it Online Does Not Make it Better" by Alice Keeler
- Select a paragraph and write about how you would use the topic of the paragraph to add innovation to your teaching, or your project for this course.
Article 3
- Read "Bringing Inquiry-Based Learning Into Your Class" by Trevor MacKenzie
- What is one thing you could do in your classroom in the fall to increase "student agency".
- How will this impact the acquisition of some of the essential learnings of your curriculum?
When you "Log Your Hours" put in 1.5 hours for this work.
