The Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority, or LMHA, has been a primary housing development agency that has helped the citizens of Toledo, Ohio. Due to cuts in federal funding, the agency was forced to look for new and innovative methods by which to run their operations. It decided to utilize the Citrix Cloud, and it has worked wonders.
But what is the Citrix Cloud?
The Citrix Cloud is primarily a platform wherein users can manage and utilize Citrix apps and products. Whether the hardware is public, private, or hybrid, users can use the Citrix Cloud to communicate and send vital information. The cloud itself supports other cloud-based versions of Citrix products and can gather all these products in a virtual office for ease of access.
Citrix products such as XenApp, XenDesktop, and ShareFile, can be accessed through the Citrix Cloud. Citrix has even created a number of cloud-native services such as its Secure Browser Service. The cloud itself is designed to be compatible with any device, cloud, or data center, and has its own synching device in the Citrix Cloud Connector. With Microsoft Azure as its cloud partner, the reach of Citrix Cloud has grown to include more clouds and IT infrastructures. However, one of the more favorable features of Citrix Cloud is how it allows its clients’ IT professional to decide on which data center or cloud they connect with it.

There’s a wealth of ways that technological advancements are making housing smarter as well as more affordable for greater segments of the population. Let’s take a closer look at how technology enables this sector to serve more and more families and help elevate their quality of life through safe, quality shelter.
Transportation
When transportation options are limited, residents converge where the best are, in turn driving up the price of land in those areas. Technology that expands these options and tackles congestion can contribute to expanding affordable housing that’s close enough to the place of employment and where people want to go.
Construction cost
New, tech-driven building techniques can radically reduce costs, may it be in promoting smart designs, new and sustainable materials, or construction techniques that make processes more efficient and therefore cheaper to complete.
Security
Smart devices pay attention to automating alarms, capturing CCTV footage better, and streaming the video or images to off-site locations for enhanced monitoring. There’s also the emergence of smart locks to address lost keys and enhance access controls. These smart technologies have a long way to go in becoming more accessible to lower-income families, but their benefits can make a huge dent in quality and appeal of housing projects.
