The project addresses two of the major issues faced by contemporary design and innovation sciences – first, identifying the internal mechanisms of social dynamics operating in research groups, and second, identifying the research strategies that foster innovation in international collaborative networks. To identify such mechanisms, it is necessary to understand how the dynamic transformations of network structures of interactions between researchers are related. It is our goal to identify a set of “patterns of innovation” that can be studied and implemented to help Ecuadorian universities to build consolidated research groups based on international collaboration.
