Atrial paced rhythm results from the electronic pacing of an atrium. Note the vertical spike before the P wave.An electronic pacemaker lead repeatedly generates a small but sufficient current to begin depolarization of the atria and the resulting P wave.
It is used in patients with sinus node dysfunction or other atrial arrhythmias when the natural pacemaker is inadequate.
Some keys to diagnostic will be pacing Spikes: Small, sharp, vertical deflections that precede the P waves, indicating pacemaker activity. Atrial-Generated P Waves, regular Rhythm and will be present pacemaker dependency.
The treatment is pacemaker implantation, medication to support, programing and motoring the pacemaker.
