How do I get help with the online resources and activities?
If a parent or student has any questions please contact me. I am also available Monday-Friday to assist students with the distance learning activities. Students and parents may contact me through email, Google Classroom, or by phone. I will get back to you as soon as possible!
How does my student get their login for Google Classroom?
Every YACS student has an individual email address and password that they can use to access our online resources, including Google Classroom. If your student does not have this information please send me a text or email.
Is the online work graded?
The work that students complete online as either part of hybrid or virtual learning is being collected for grades. Students are receiving credit for their courses and will be assessed on their learning throughout the school year. Because the online work is required, it's important that students stay on top of their homework and assignments. If a parent or student needs help with any of the assignments please do not hesitate to contact me. I am also available for tutoring.
When are the assignments due?
Each online assignment and activity will be posted in Google Classroom with the due date. My expectation is that students complete their work by the assigned date. For more information about my late work policy, please refer to my syllabus.
What if I am having technology or internet access issues at home?
Please let me know if you have extenuating circumstances that prevent your student from participating - I am happy to work with you! If a student is having problems with their Chromebook I can also connect you with our school technology administrator.
Can my student use a phone or tablet?
While it is possible for a student to access Google Classroom and Zoom from a phone or tablet, I recommend that they use a laptop or Chromebook whenever possible. Many assignments will require students to have a larger screen and be able to type. Additionally, some resources we use will only show up on a computer.
Why are my classes not showing up on Google Classroom?
First, make sure that you are signed into your YACS account and not a different Google account. If your student does not know their Google account for school please contact me! If they are logged in and still don't see certain classes, feel free to reach out to me or that specific teacher. We can provide you with the class code.
When/what is the Zoom class?
Students who are learning from home (hybrid and virtual) are expected to participate in our lessons Monday-Thursday and attendance is being taken. This process is done using the Zoom software. When students log in to my Zoom, they will be able to see me teach the lesson, follow along with the activities, and ask questions. The Zoom link for my class is shared through my Google Classroom. Once students log in, they can follow the link on the stream to join my class.
Why is Zoom not working?
Make sure that you have the correct information for each class. The link, code and password is different for every teacher. To get the correct information, have your student access that teacher's Google Classroom. Passwords are case-sensitive. If it says you are in a "waiting room," it means the class has not started yet. If it does not let you join or you do not see anyone else on the call, you may have the wrong link/code/password. Sometimes Zoom can be difficult to access if your internet connection is not stable. If possible, move to a location with a strong wifi or cellular signal. If you are still having trouble, please let me know!

How do I contact a different teacher?
