We're so glad that you've chosen to further your child's music education by enrolling in our premier band program! Here, young musicians will meet new friends, challenge themselves to develop new skills, and excel in areas of music literacy and performance. Our educational philosophy here in Yorkville is that every child deserves access to a high quality music education - in order to achieve this, all students who participate in band will need an instrument, Essential Elements Book, supply kit, and a music stand. Below, you can find information regarding how to rent or purchase an instrument and supplies for your student. Additional information is available for families who qualify for FRL or whom the financial responsibility of our ensemble would be a burden.
🎺Purchasing or Renting An Instrument🥁
Most of our families elect to rent or purchase their instrument through Ellman's Music Center's "rent-to-own" program. There are a RANGE of benefits from renting through Ellman's, but here are just a few:
Quality instruments that set your child up for success
Pre-packaged “Yorkville Kits” for your students with all the supplies they will need
Weekly deliveries and repairs to the school save you a trip to the music store
Insurance programs, protecting instrument from loss or damage
Month-to-month contracts, allowing flexibility for the future
When purchasing an instrument, whether new or used, it is always important to do the proper research!
In short, some instrument brands can be restrictive when it comes to sound production and tone. Please refer to the following list of recommended instruments and brands when purchasing an instrument for your child. Before making a purchase, please be sure to notify your student's director know so that they can ensure you are getting the best value for your money!
Families who qualify for FRL are eligible for rental of a school-owned instrument. We aim to maintain a high quality inventory of instruments to offer to our students - as a result, we collect a yearly fee of $99 to clean, repair, and preserve the condition of our inventory. Please reach out to your child's director for information in regard to renting a school-owned instrument or if you believe cost will be prohibitive of your student enrolling in band. We are here to help!
