This section introduces a new type of notation called guitar tab. Tab is used by the majority of pop/rock guitarists as it correlates the music with the fret number on your guitar as opposed to the notes: making translating score to playing much faster. In this video, the Tab will be lined up to match the notation above which shows that they read the same thing. However, you commonly only see one or the other.

NB: It is important to still practice using traditional notation as not every composer will write music in the guitar tab. However, sites such as Ultimate Guitar contain a bank of thousands of songs, which after learning how to read tab you should be able to play. Just be warned, take it slow, yes you can read the Tab to the solo of 'Sweet Child O' Mine' by Guns and Roses but you will not be ready to play it yet.
