Day 5

Today was our last day of mobility at the Anatolia School. We finish our stay, it has been a week full of learning.

We started the morning meeting Eleni who is the primary school coordinator. She explained to us how they work on reading throughout the whole primary school. We have also been sharing activities and experiences with her.

Eleni told us that every week the children can go to the library and borrow books to take home.

In addition, each year they read between 7 and 8 books together with the whole class. Then they invite one of the writers of the books read together and do an online interview with them. They also show them all the work they do from the book. Some of the activities they do are: create a dialogue to dramatize, make up a part of the story, draw their favorite characters....

Eleni told us how the elementary school works. They have 6 hours of English per week, 4 hours of Greek, 1 hour of history, 2 hours of physical education, 1 hour of geography, 1 hour of science, among others. She told us that in the public schools they only have 2 hours of English and that there are no school libraries in them.

Afterwards we met up with Evi to close our stay. She showed us a recording of the author's circle, an activity in which they invite an author through meet, share with them the work done in the classroom and they interview them.

Evi asked us to give her some feedback regarding our stay. If everything we had done had been useful and what we would apply in our center. So between me and Arcen we made a list of things we want to apply in our center.

We shared with her that we would have liked to be more in contact with the teachers and students and see learning situations in the classroom. We have learned many things from the school library these days and we have been very enriched by the training received from Anatolia.

It has been a pleasure to be here and we leave with a very pleasant feeling in our hearts.
