Yolanda Palacino
Yolanda holds a degree in business administration and management. Since she was a child, she have been attracted to the business world.
She started working in several departments within different companies. Later, she was offered to work as project manager in the Leonardo da Vinci’s Spanish National Agency in the transfer of Innovation department, managing European educational cooperation projects.
This work allowed her to discover the great connection between education and the business field. She believes that the union of these two areas is fundamental in the current society.
Today, 13 years later, she continues to manage European educational cooperation projects for Spanish National Agency (SEPIE) for the Erasmus+ Programme.
Anabel Menica
Anabel has been head of internationalization at Politeknika Txorierri for over 10 years. Before that she worked as an English teacher. Actually, that is the way they started working in international projects by participating in mobility projects that exposed their students to different views, knowledge and teaching methods that contributed to their development.
She is still a teacher at heart even if she stopped her direct involvement with students when she became fully involved in the development and implementation of different European projects in her school. Anabel is a strong believer in the importance of international projects.and in their contribution to the innovation and modernization of her school.
Stefano Antona
Stefano Antona is an expert in industrial automation and in training processes. After some years as industrial technician, with expertises in PLC and Robotics, in 2004 he starts his teaching career in Apro Formazione, VET center of Alba (IT) with the aim to share his knowledge with the future generations. Today he is still a teacher, but also the technical department coordinator and a developer of several European projects as well as DTAM – Digital Transformation in Advanced Manufacturing.
Jan van der Weijde
Jan van der Weijde is a Coordinator International Relations at the ROC Friese Poort Sneek in The Netherlands. ROC Friese Poort is a vocational institute with 15.000 students spread over different cities in the northern parts of the Netherlands. ROC Friese Poort’s Sneek division has 3.600 students.
Jan started his career in education almost 40 years ago in Rotterdam, after which he moved north for his job at ROC Friese Poort. The start of his international activities was over 20 years ago with an excursion with students to Rome. From there he built an international network with student placements in over 20 countries world-wide. There are many activities, all the way from Norway to South Africa and from the Azorean Islands to eastern Turkey.
Growing and maintaining a vast network for international activities is not a one (wo)man job. Realizing successful international activities relies on the enthusiasm and support of colleague’s both internally and internationally, as well as on the European Erasmus+ programs KA1 and KA2.
Riënne Blanksma
My name is Riënne Blanksma and I work for ROC Friese Poort in The Netherlands, at the international office in the Sneek location. ROC Friese Poort is a VET organisation in the north of The Netherlands, providing short course for businesses and 2, 3, 4 - year vocational courses for teens and adults. We have appr. 15.000 students divided over 4 main locations.
After studying hospitality management, I worked for several hotels chains in The Netherlands, front of house. After a few years I moved to London Engeland, where I worked as a shiftleader on reception in a large hotel. I then moved to Warwick, Midlands where I ran a small hotel for a number of years. After returning to the Netherlands I moved into education, linked to the hospitality management department of ROC Friese Poort Sneek. I achieved a bachelor degree in Eduation and taught English for 12 years. I became coördinator of the hospitality courses and set up work placement networks mainly in England and Ireland. In 2016 I researched the posibility of offering a bi-lingual course in hospitality management. We started offering the 4- year International hospitality studies (IHS) in 2018 with the first students graduating in July 2022. In 2021, I moved to the international office. The present coordinator will retire next school year and we are now in a transitional period. We work with Easmus+ KA1, KA2 and KA3 and Interreg. I enjoy the variety of activities involved and being able to assist and make colleagues and students enthousiastic for international opportunities.
