Dissabte 8 de març, 8 alumnes de 6èA i 3 mestres de l'escola sortim de Les Franqueses del Vallès amb destinació Seinäjoki - Finlàndia. Per davant 1 hora de tren fins l'aeroport i 4 hores d'avió per arribar a Helsinki, la capital de Finlàndia. Arribem a la tarda, ja de nit, amb una mica de fred però de moment sense neu. Aprofitem per fer una volta, sopar una mica i jugar en un dels meravellosos parcs d'aquesta ciutat. Ens allotgem en un hotel molt cèntric i a prop de l'estació central de trens. A l'endemà ens esperen unes hores de tren fins arribar a l'escola que ens acull, Karjen Koulu - Seinäjoki.  

Saturday, March 8th, 8 students from 6th grade A and 3 teachers from the school leave Les Franqueses del Vallès heading to Seinäjoki, Finland. Ahead of us, a 1-hour train ride to the airport and a 4-hour flight to Helsinki, the capital of Finland. We arrive in the afternoon, already night, with a bit of cold but so far no snow. We take the opportunity to walk around, have a light dinner, and play in one of the beautiful parks in this city. We stay in a very central hotel, close to the main train station. The next day, we have a few hours of train ride ahead until we reach the town that will host us, Seinäjoki.

Today, Sunday, March 9th, the ERASMUS+ convoy, after a good breakfast and a bit of running to reach the central station, took a high-speed train to the city of Seinäjoki. After a 3-hour journey, the students had the chance to enjoy the first snowy forests and chat with some locals. Upon arrival, the families, students, and teachers from Kärjen Koulu were waiting for us with welcome signs. Each student went with their host family. Some of them gathered in the afternoon to share moments between Catalans and Finns. Tomorrow we will visit the school and begin all the planned activities. 

Avui hem anat a l'escola per primera vegada. El seu nom és Kärjen, una escola de nova construcció on ens han rebut de la millor manera possible. Els nostres alumnes han fet una exposició sobre el nostre poble, les nostres costums, els plats típics, etc. També hem impartit classe amb els companys finlandesos i els alumnes han començat a treballar en grups per crear un vídeo comparant les costums, els plats, la natura... típica finlandesa i típica espanyola i catalana. A la tarda hem anat a passejar a un petit turó, on hem pogut jugar amb la neu i fer una barbacoa en unes cabanes molt peculiars.

Today we went to school for the first time. Its name is Kärjen, a newly built school where we were received in the best possible way. Our students gave a presentation about our town, our customs, typical foods, etc. We also held classes with the Finnish colleagues, and the students started working in groups to create a video comparing Finnish and Spanish/Catalan customs, food, nature, etc. In the afternoon, we went for a walk to a small hill, where we were able to play in the snow and have a barbecue in some very unique cabins. 

Avui hem tornat a anar a l’escola. A primera hora hem compartit classe amb els alumnes de 1r i 3r. Ens han ensenyat com cosien un peluix, el qual és el protagonista d’un conte que treballen, i hem après jugant els números i paraules bàsiques del suec. Després hem continuat treballant amb el projecte compartit que vam iniciar ahir. També hem fet una activitat d’art amb els alumnes de 2n, i alguns dels alumnes que ahir no van anar a l’aula de música han pogut tocar diferents instruments com la bateria, el bongo…

I a la tarda hem anat a visitar l’església, l’ajuntament i l'antiga biblioteca de la ciutat de Seinäjoki, construïda pel reconegut arquitecte finnès Alvar Aalto i l'actual biblioteca pública municipal (fotos arquitectura)

Today we went back to school. First thing in the morning, we shared a class with the 1st and 3rd-grade students. They taught us how to sew a plush toy, which is the main character of a story they are working on, and we learned basic Swedish numbers and words through play. Afterward, we continued working on the shared project that we started yesterday. We also did an art activity with the 2nd-grade students, and some of the students who didn’t attend the music class yesterday had the opportunity to play different instruments like the drums and the bongo.

In the afternoon, we visited the church, the town hall and the old municipal public library built by the renowned Finnish architect Alvar Aalto and the modern library. 

Avui a l'escola, els nois han començat fent educació física. Han tingut la gran sort de fer un joc conegut per ells, però amb un munt de material que ha enriquit l'activitat moltíssim. Després ja ens trobat la resta de companyes i hem continuat treballant en el projecte iniciat dilluns i dimarts. Avui ha estat el dia de gravació, tots els alumnes per grups han gravat el reportatge amb els ipads. També hem anat a veure una classe de matemàtiques dels alumnes de 3r curs, i una classe d'art dels alumnes de 4t. I per acabar el matí, hem fet un assaig tots junts a l'aula de música. A la tarda, hem anat a patinar sobre gel. Quina experiència tant divertida! Després hem anat a un centre comercial a comprar detallets, hem jugat a la bolera i hem sopat. Quin gran dia que hem passat!

Today at school, the boys started with physical education. They were lucky to play a game they know well, but with a lot of equipment that greatly enriched the activity. After that, we met up with the rest of the classmates and continued working on the project we started on Monday and Tuesday. Today was the recording day, and all the students, in groups, recorded the report using iPads. We also went to see a math class with the 3rd-grade students, and an art class with the 4th-grade students. To finish the morning, we did a rehearsal together in the music room. In the afternoon, we went ice skating. What a fun experience! After that, we went to a shopping mall to buy some little things, played bowling, and had dinner. What a great day we had!

Avui dijous hem tornat a l’escola, les sis noies que formen part de l’Erasmus i els hi ha tocat començar el dia fent educació física. Han realitzat el joc conegut per nosaltres com a “cementiri”. Han utilitzat molt material, i han pogut veure diferents modificacions dins d’una mateixa proposta.

També hem anat a veure la mostra d’unes cançons fetes pels alumnes de 3r, 4t i 5è, i hem compartit classe amb els alumnes de 2n, on hem fet una activitat d’anglès dins la classe d’educació física. Cap al migdia, hem fet una videoconferència amb els nostres companys i companyes de classe. Hem estat parlant una estona amb ells, els hem explicat la manera de treballar aquí a Finlàndia i algunes coses que ens han sorprès. Tot seguit, hem realitzat una classe de mates de 6è i hem pogut veure una metodologia diferent a l’hora de realitzar les divisions amb decimals. I per acabar el dia, hem anat a una optativa anomenada “All around Europe”, i ens han deixat participar. Hem ensenyat vocabulari en llengua catalana, i els números.

Today, Thursday, we returned to school. The six girls who are part of the Erasmus program started the day with physical education. They played a game known to us as “Cemetery.” They used a lot of equipment and were able to see different variations within the same activity.

We also went to see a performance of songs created by students from 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, and we shared a class with the 2nd-grade students, where we did an English activity during the physical education class. Around noon, we had a video conference with our classmates. We talked with them for a while, explaining how we work here in Finland and sharing some things that have surprised us. Next, we had a 6th-grade math class, and we were able to see a different methodology for performing divisions with decimals. To end the day, we went to an elective called “All Around Europe,” and they let us participate. We taught vocabulary in Catalan and numbers.

Avui és l’últim dia a l’escola. Hem aprofitat per acabar una activitat d’art que teníem per fer d’un altre dia. Després ens hem desplaçat tots cap al gimnàs on ens hem trobat amb els alumnes de tota l’escola. Han projectat tots els projectes que hem estat treballant durant tota la setmana, i tot seguit hem representat l’espectacle de música que també hem pogut anar practicant dies abans. Ha estat una actuació impressionant! Després de dinar hem compartit classe d’anglès amb els alumnes de 4t, i hem estat repassant els mesos de l’any amb diferents propostes. I per acabar el matí, hem fet una reunió conjunta amb tots els alumnes que formen l’Erasmus, la cap d’estudis de l’escola i el director, i hem intercanviat experiències, moments viscuts, sensacions… La veritat, hem passat una gran setmana acompanyats en tot moment per l’equip docent i els alumnes.

A la tarda hem tornat a l’escola i ens han preparat un comiat. Hem cuinat amb ajuda dels mestres i companys i companyes d’Erasmus tres plats típics de Finlàndia: pastís de carelio, pastís de nabius i pa de formatge amb melmelada de préssec. I per acabar la tarda, hem ballat amb cançons típiques catalanes i fineses, i hem jugat amb anelles penjants i cordes. Fins aquí l’últim dia a l’escola!

Today is the last day at school. We took the opportunity to finish an art activity that we had to complete another day. Afterward, we all moved to the gym where we met with students from the entire school. They projected all the projects we have been working on throughout the week, and then we performed the music show that we had also been practicing for days before. It was an impressive performance! After lunch, we shared an English class with the 4th-grade students, and we reviewed the months of the year with different activities. To finish the morning, we had a joint meeting with all the students in the Erasmus program, the head of studies of the school, and the principal, where we exchanged experiences, moments lived, and sensations… Honestly, we had a great week, always accompanied by the teaching team and the students.

In the afternoon, we returned to school and they prepared a farewell for us. We cooked with the help of the teachers and Erasmus classmates three typical Finnish dishes: Karelian pasty, blueberry pie, and cheese bread with peach jam. And to end the afternoon, we danced to typical Catalan and Finnish songs, and played with hanging rings and ropes. This is the last day at school!
