JOB SHADOWING SCHOOL YEAR 2025-26
EBI Francisco Drummond , Terceira -AZORES
EBI Francisco Drummond , Terceira -AZORES
From 4 to 8 May, our Music Specialist had the opportunity to take part in an Erasmus+ job shadowing experience at EBI Francisco Ferreira Drummond in Terceira (Azores). This mobility was a unique opportunity to observe inspiring educational practices and to continue strengthening our European collaboration network.
During the visit, several music lessons and interdisciplinary projects were observed. The host school demonstrated innovative and inclusive methodologies, where music is used not only as an artistic discipline but also as a powerful tool for inclusion, participation, and emotional expression. Particular attention was given to how music supports students with diverse learning needs, fostering engagement and a strong sense of belonging.
Another remarkable aspect was the creative use of recycled and everyday materials to build instruments, promoting sustainability, experimentation, and hands-on learning. This approach reflects a strong commitment to environmental awareness and aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, which are increasingly integrated into educational practice.
The school, part of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network, actively promotes citizenship, intercultural understanding, respect for local heritage, and European values. Many activities were connected to the culture and traditions of the Azores, highlighting the importance of identity, creativity, and community engagement.
This Erasmus+ experience supports our Accreditation priorities: improving linguistic and digital competences, fostering pedagogical innovation, strengthening inclusion and diversity, enhancing the European dimension of our curriculum, and integrating sustainability into everyday teaching practice.
The mobility has enriched professional development, encouraged reflection, and provided new ideas that will positively contribute to our educational project and to the continuous improvement of our school.
