The chessboard

The chessboard is made of light (white) and dark (black) squares along the chess pieces move.

It has a square shape and it is organised in:

• 8 ranks.- raws of squares that go from left to right. They are identified with numbers.

• 8 files.- lines that go straight from one chess army to the other. They are identifyed with letters.
