This place has changed its name lots of times, but it’s commonly known as “Opéra de París”. It was created in 1669. At that time, it was the main centre of operas and theatres of France, so it has a huge importance in French artistic culture.

It was designed by the architect Garnier, who used a neo-baroque style. This style uses a lot of small details, gold, silver, twisted forms, and a very powerful image. This was the centre of different musical and ballet academies, so its history carries lots of truly important actors and actresses.

We think that owing to the fact that this place was one of the most important centres of culture of Europe at its moment, it was also an important cause of the development of the culture and the thinking of European habitants. Would the culture and our knowledge be the same if these kinds of constructions had not been made? Would we think in another way nowadays if the culture had not evolved in the way it did? This huge neo-baroque building carries the memories of the evolution of humanity, and not only in a social way, but also in a spiritual way. This is because it was people thoughts and emotions what modified the social structures.
